Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, is a bustling city with an old-town look.  Waterfront Old Town has a long history dating back to 1749, and can be seen in its bricked sidewalks, colonial architecture, and the old cobblestone street.  Today the beautiful sidewalks are lined with a wide variety of ethnic restaurants, pubs, fashion boutiques, and curio stores.

Parking can be very difficult to find in Old Town Alexandria, and the meter maids are serious about enforcing the parking rules.  One easy and free mode of transportation is the Dash About free bus taking passengers between the King Street Metro Station and the Market Square on King Street.  The Dash About runs Friday nights 7PM-12AM and all day Saturday and Sunday -- for free!  Check out the bus schedule.

One of our favorite restaurants in Old Town is Red Mei.  This restaurant offers fresh Pan-Asian cuisine cooked-to-order in iron woks over an open flame right in front of you (view map).  Cheap prices, tasty Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese cuisine - dinner for about $8.
