Adams Morgan Neighborhood, DC

Adams
Morgan is an diverse neighborhood located in northern DC near
Columbia Avenue, just two miles from the White House. An
eye-catching mix of ethnic restaurants, sidewalk cafes, curio
stores, all colorfully painted and intertwined. As you
walk down the sidewalk, you will likely encounter a
hookah cafe,
a kebab stand, and several Ethiopian restaurants. Apartments
and townhomes line the side streets leading to the main artery -
18th Street. At night the street-side fluorescent lights
advertise an exciting mix of pubs, bars, and night clubs -
influenced by international tunes and decor.
The
melting-pot assortment of stores and eating establishments also
brings a true cultural mix of pedestrians, visitors, and
restaurant-goers. Adams Morgan is also well known for its
expressive-art forms, including vibrant murals (such as the one
painted on the wall of the Madams Organ
bar). Browse african
souvenirs adjacent a hand-made empanada stand. Further down
the street we passed a Himalayan art store, a Moroccan ceramics
store, and an out-of-place pizza-by-the-slice stand. Adams
Morgan is conveniently located just a few blocks from a metro
station.
